The International Conference on Boundary Elements and other Mesh Reduction Methods (BEM/MRM), founded by the Wessex Institute of Technology (WIT) in 1978, has consistently attracted outstanding researchers and high-quality papers from around the world. The 48th Edition of the conference (BEM/MRM 48) will be held in Dalian, China, as an affiliated conference of WIT.
Since 1978, the conference has advanced numerical methods for engineering applications that reduce modeling dimensions, such as the Boundary Element Method, or reduce meshing requirements for discretization, such as meshless methods. The conference welcomes all academic and industrial stakeholders interested in these methods, and particularly the participation of young researchers.  
The conferences have produced a collection of edited volumes in which major developments in the field have been reported.  The valuable series has been offered in digital form since 1993, with all papers Open Access available in the Wessex Institute’s eLibrary website (www.witpress.com/elibrary), where they can be easily accessed and downloaded for free.
